I had to share these...

Here are some other Eli moments and pics from the last few weeks that didn't really work in any other blog post, but they were so cute, I couldn't resist posting them!

Is my halo on?

Hercules!

Laying around.

Where's your belly?

Gino

We aren't completely sure why, but Eli is OBSESSED with our neighbor, Gino.

He used to wake up and ask for Mama or Daddy (whoever was not in his room at the moment). He now looks at you and says, "Gino."

When we leave the house to get in the car, he points at Gino's house and says , "Gino."

When we pull in the driveway, he points at Gino's house and says, "Gino."

We had to close the blinds in the dining room that look over Gino's house because Gino was outside grilling one night and Eli kept yelling, "GINO!" while trying to climb out of his high chair (and you've seen pictures of Eli - my kid doesn't let anything distract him from food...except Gino). It is important to note that closing the blinds did not affect the number of times he asks for Gino, simply the intensity of the request.

When he leaves in the morning, I pass him to Daddy and ask for a kiss. He literally pushed me out of the way today, while saying Gino's name and looking out the door. I don't even get a wave anymore!

He asks for Gino more than Jacob!

I think the obsession started when Gino, who is a landscaper, was doing some yard work with a bobcat. Eli heard it and kept saying truck (ok - he was saying "duck" but he meant truck), so I brought him out to see it. I had no reason to believe (based on photographic evidence) that Eli was in anyway smitten with Gino.

Aforementioned photographic evidence:

At this point, we only have a few ideas as to why Eli wants Gino, a man he hardly ever sees, more than Mommy and Daddy (well, more than Daddy).

1. Gino somehow gets into the house at night and sneaks Eli blueberries and sings "Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star" over and over again.

2. Gino is just a really fun, easy name for toddlers to say. (This is really something we just tell ourselves to make us feel better.)

3. Gino owes Eli money.

4. Eli finds Gino irresistably attractive. (Hey, I love and support my son no matter what!) Maybe he does take after me - I, too, like older men!

5. Eli has some serious dirt on Gino and does not want Gino to forget it.

6. Gino makes amazing Italian sausages from scratch and, although we have not had them in about a year (ahem!), Eli remembers the taste and is feening for more.

7. Eli is desperate to connect with his Italian heritage.

If you have any other ideas, please let me know!

I can't hear you!

Mommy and Eli were goofing around, dancing to Fresh Beat Band and Dora on Nick Jr. tonight when Eli then discovered a new trick - he can put his fingers in his ears! I know he just did it and it sounded cool, so he kept doing it, but I was singing when this behavior started!

I know he wasn't being fresh, I know he wasn't being fresh, I know he wasn't being fresh...but he is Dave's son...I hope he wasn't being fresh, I hope he wasn't being fresh, I hope he wasn't being fresh...

In other news, I noticed a new molar on the top right in Eli's mouth last night! That brings the current tooth count to 10! Four front teeth on the top, four front teeth on the bottom, one molar on the bottom right and one molar on the top right!

You can actually see 9 of the teeth:

Goofing Around

Last night, Daddy was driving us to the camera store and Mommy decided to goof around. I held the camera up over the seat and just started shooting pictures. Eli kept saying, "Cheese," when he would see the camera pointed at him. I am sure this did not drive the car behind us crazy at all! It took a few tries, but I got some cute pics of our little cheeseball.

Tonight, we went to dinner with Grampy at the Ninety Nine. Eli drank all the water in his sippy cup and when I asked for more, they brought him some in a cute cup with a straw. He took to the straw right away (although sucking out the water and then opening your mouth is not a valid way to take a drink).

Grampy taught him to clink glasses and say, "Cheers!" It was so cute!

In this pic, he is trying to drink while simultaneously saying, "Cheese!" and making his scrunched up picture face:

He was soaking wet and covered in ketchup. When we took him out of the seat, his shorts were a mess. I had to clean up around him because he dropped so much. We sure could have used Reggie to clean up after him at the restaurant!

Zoo

Mommy and Daddy took Eli to the Stone Zoo on June 7 - apparently 4:30 in the afternoon's the time to go. All the animals were out and so close to us! We got some cool pics of the animals. Check out the yak, snow leopard, Mexican gray wolf, Markhor goats, and some monkeys:

I got a zoo membership, so when I had Jacob at the end of the week, I took both of them. It was a great day and Eli loves spending time with his cousin sooooo much! Look at these two:

Big Boy - 18 Month Check Up

Eli had his 18 month check up at the doctor today. He was such a big boy, walking in with Mama and holding her hand. As soon as we got into the exam room, all that changed and I had a kicking, screaming, strong little guy on my hands!

Little?

I have no idea how the nurse weighed him as he was flailing around so much, but he is up to 29 pounds, 4 ounces. That puts him in the 87th percentile for weight. He is not overweight, as the doctor made it clear to me that he is a robust, healthy boy!

Eli has so many words now and he seems to pick up new words daily. I can't believe how fast it is happening!

We don't go back to the doctor for 6 months now. I think I am going to start having separation anxiety for Dr. Nishiyama! Not to worry - I am sure our little bruiser will have us back there before December with something - here's hoping it is a cold or something small. I can only take so much!

I am so grateful for our healthy, happy little guy!!

Bumps and Bruises

Eli's Baba and Zada got him a chair and he LOVED it! He looks just like his Daddy, sitting in the chair with a remote in his hand.

As you can see, Eli has a small cut under his eye. He cornered a cat earlier that day and she finally had it with him. Score: Mama Cat - 1, Eli - 0.

After being such a good boy on his new chair, Eli realized when Baba left that he could also use this chair to climb. Eventually, he fell (let the record show this was not on Mama's watch - the offending party had been warned)! Score: Floor - 1, Eli - 0.

All I have to say is, man, this kid is a bleeder! He cut his top lip on his teeth and I could not believe how much blood there was. Thank goodness I had run into someone the month before whose son had done the same thing and I remembered him saying, "It bled so much for a few minutes and then it just stopped." I am getting really good at being calm with injuries!
