"a duck, a duck, a duck...."

Apparently, Eli walks around his play yard looking for ducks.

Sorry about the floor shot in the beginning, but if he sees you turn on the camera, he will stare at it without moving or making a sound, which makes for a truly boring video (and thoroughly frustrated Mommy).

During his time in the play yard tonight, I thought he took a step from me to the side. I looked to Daddy to make sure I wasn't making a big deal out of nothing. Daddy could not confirm nor deny the "step" as he was thoroughly riveted by the "Potty Patch" commercial on TV and completely missed Eli's "step." Google it - it is better than the Snuggie!

Communication!

Mommy almost cried at dinner tonight. I was feeding Eli some carrots, mixed with oatmeal and some pieces of pasta. It was not going well. Someone was not happy that Mommy hid the pasta he wouldn't eat in his carrots, thoroughly ruining the carrots.

There may have been some angry fussing happening. I noticed that Eli was squeezing his hand a lot and it hit me - he was signing for milk (I confirmed this online after the fact)! Eli communicated what he wanted! While he didn't get milk, I put some water in a sippy cup. He sucked back 2 ounces and then quietly ate his carrots (I caved and got him some with no pasta - I am a sucker).

We tried to get a picture of him signing, but it didn't really work. It is his right hand - you can see he is squeezing it.

So we settled for one of Eli and his proud Momma!

10 MONTHS OLD!

Eli is 10 months old today! It is silly how fast the time is flying. Last year at this time, I felt sooooo very pregnant. The pregnancy pictures don't ever have to be posted here, though. Here is a cute Eli picture to distract any attention from thoughts of those pictures.

Mommy and Eli met Stacey and Michael for breakfast in Jamaica Plain. Then, Mommy, Stacey, and Eli went for a walk around the Arboretum. It was beautiful and we will have to go back. Eli slept for the whole walk!

Here is Eli having a blast with Stacey at AJ's house later that night - he is still young enough to crash girls' night! He was starting to clap here, but I couldn't get a good picture of it...

Giggles

Eli thought it was the funniest thing tonight when Daddy pretended he was going to tap Eli in the head with a spatula. Don't think it is funny? Well, mock child beatings don't normally do it for me, but watch this - I'll bet you smile:

Possible Careers

So, when the pediatrician said Eli was in the 97th percentile for height, I instantly thought he could be a future NBA star (of course - what else can tall people do?).

Then, I was in the playpen with him tonight and several other career possibilities came to me:

Plumber

Stoner (complete with baby bong):

Love that bum!

Eli has the cutest bum and I have been obsessed with how cute it is since he was born...inappropriate, you ask? Not yet. Take a look and tell me he is not the cutest!

Ok, these pics don't even show how cute it is! I bet he won't be embarrassed by this post at all when he is older...

We played in the playpen for a while tonight. We:

Climbed Mount Momma

Laughed at Daddy (Daddy was trying to scare/surprise Eli and you can see Eli is clearly terrified):

We ended the night by not even bothering to sit up. Eli does this a lot - it is like sitting up is too much work, so he just lounges and plays with toys or watches stuff around him.

I can't believe how fast he is growing. He cruises around the play yard now and sometimes can stand for a bit with no support. I can't believe how fast it is going! He eats veggies and fruit now and I am going to try some chicken soon. He also holds his own bottle, too! I will post that as soon as I catch a picture of it!

On Daddy's Shoulders

Eli was a big boy on Daddy's shoulders today! He loved it - he was smiling and laughing at first...

Disclaimer: I was in the kitchen doing dishes when Daddy did this, so I cannot be held responsible for the Martin Lawrence movie that is on the TV in the above picture.

Then Eli started using Daddy's head as a drum...

And finally, Daddy's head became a teething toy!

Growing

Eli weighed in at 22 lbs., 8 oz. and 30 inches long at the pediatrician's office today. He is in the 97th percentile for height!!

While he was in the Exersaucer tonight, I saw him lean back to reach a toy. It was like he was too lazy to turn himself around. He did it a few times. It was so cute!
